So one MP gets a shit storm for saying that part of the Olympic ceremony was "left wing multiculturalism clap-trap" yet another has a different view.
From the Guardian it quotes Paul Flynn MP , The Guardian says :
"Paul Flynn, MP for Newport West, praised Danny Boyle
for highlighting the NHS, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and the
futility of war. "Wonderfully progressive socialist sentiments and ideas
were smuggled into the opening romp,"
The Guardian then went on to say:
" The Labour MP said he echoed the sentiment of Labour colleague Carl
Sargeant, minister for local government and communities in the Welsh
assembly government, who had tweeted that the opening ceremony was "the
best Labour party political broadcast I have seen in a while".
"Wonderfully progressive socialist sentiments and ideas were
smuggled into the opening romp. The Tory Olympic twosome were tricked
into praising the Trojan horse. Cameron and Boris could not condemn the
wonders that [they]had praised to the skies 12 hours earlier."
I take it the left will now retract the comments aimed at Mr Burley?
You said you were going to read Animal Farm, Billy? Have you done so? Obviously this is Four-Legs-Good-Two-Legs-Bad, which is the way these people's minds work. Will they get away with it? Probably. There should be equal treatment of course, but again from Animal Farm: "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others."
ReplyDeleteYep : http://kebabtime.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/something-for-weekend.html Saturday.
DeleteI've read this 6 times and I still have no idea how this makes "multi-cultural crap" right. But if you find yourself in agreement with Aidan Burley I suppose you'll look for any straws you can get your hands on.
ReplyDeleteOK, but I have yet to hear anything to suggest what Burley said was "wrong". He stated something that was his opinion and that should be respected - absolutely no straws to clutch or whatsoever. The issue I have is that it's the way Burley has been ridiculed just strengthens my belief that the left do not believe in free speech. They seem to judge what is offensive on the basis that someone, somewhere "may" find it offensive - regardless.
DeleteFor the record, I don't subscribe to Burley's viewpoint.
