Who do you think you are?

It is often said that politicians think they are above the law , well step forward today's candidate.

As the respected Tameside Advertiser reports :

" A councillor who was caught drink driving after his own council’s CCTV operators shopped him to the police has been banned from the road for 16 months."

"Michael Whitley was almost twice the legal limit when he was stopped by police just yards from his Ashton home."

Well first of all may i congratulate the council staff for doing their job without fear or favour.

But then the piece goes on to say :

"Prosecuting at Tameside magistrates’ court, Lynn Rogers said: "He took a cigarette out and put it in his mouth. The officer said you can’t smoke that and he replied ‘I can do anything I want’. It was at that point he was arrested."

What a charming role model

Well the Court disagreed :

"As well as the driving ban, which can be shortened to 12 months if Whitley pays for and completes a driving course, he was fined £240 and ordered to pay costs of £100."

Drink driving is not clever and can ruin many lives, luckily no one was hurt this time....
