Its that time again

I have tried to restrain myself lately from writing again on this topic, not because i have changed my mind, but because i have written about it at least 5/6 times before and i don't want to keep going on about one subject.

But it seems some people still don't get it, I am going to give a few examples of this.

The first is to do with football fans, every fortnight (more or less) i will see a tweet saying "RT and get this person of twitter", the tweet included will say something like "You cunt" or might mock someone after a recent tragedy, Now while i personally wouldn't do or say that (well i will call politicians cunts sometimes) it is not for me to demand that they are silenced.

The second is to do with politics and what happens when someone who maybe in same party as you holds different views on things for either religious or non religious reasons (Like pro EU/anti EU or Pro or anti same sex marriage or even in homosexuality itself). Now as a proud Gay man myself i wish some didn't hold those views, I would love it for everyone to agree on some issues, But people don't.

"I despise what you say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it"

People, that sentence is in plain English and i would have thought self explanatory , In fact i have used it before maybe two or three times on the blog, Now either some people don't read the blog (possible) or people cant understand a blog-post written by someone who hasn't got a degree nor education, well that say more about them that does about me ;).

"Offense can be taken but never given"

When i see sky fairy worshipers (Religious people) say that homosexuality is a sin and i will burn in hell someday i don't ask for them to be silenced or put in front of a judge, i laugh at them, yes at them. When we won the second world war it was for this reason, that the state will not censor people they don't agree with, nor slaughter them either. If you are offended then that is your problem not anyone else.

I have been called lots of things, only yesterday i got called a "retard" for defending the freedom of speech, i have also been called a "homophobic fuckwitt", after i pointed out that i myself was gay the other people then tried to have a reasoned debate.

Which brings me on to my final point "The LBGT community" and the certain people take it on themselves to speak for the whole community, sorry i am a person, i have my own individual thoughts on every subject, and while we on that subject, Sports reporters, stop saying the whole country will be proud of XYZ and is backing XYZ, do not speak on my behalf unless you have asked me my personal opinion.

Please, stop getting offended or speak on my behalf. I am a person and have my own voice.

Its true!

Yesterday i wrote on Twitter that am going to give up drinking.

The reason is mainly money, for most of the last 6-12 months i have spent more than i earn. I sat down other day to see here i spend my money and on what and to see if i could cut anything.

Going to the pub most nights and filling the booze fridge came out top of the list of stuff that can be cut, While is not what i spend most of my money on ( others are necessary, roof over head and car etc), So the choice was either to cut down smoking and drinking in equal bits or one or other, I decided that i would give up drinking (alcohol) completely ( so i could still enjoy a fag) until my finances are in order, My debt is not out of control but i would rather sort it out now before i have to make more difficult choices.

I did consider cutting the take-away budget but seeing as my cooking skills are akin to Nick Knights commentary skills, i just couldn't take the risk.

I hope to have paid of my debts by Christmas.

Update: I have just remembered i have a bottle of Blue WKD in the fridge, so that will be last drink.

Update 2: I wonder if this aggressive tax avoidance, What say you Mr Osborne?

Why i almost stopped blogging

A few weeks ago i was listening to radio 5live hosted by reporterboy when he hosted a debate between fleetstreetfox and Harry Cole , the debate was about anonymous blogging, whether or not it was a good idea.

Apart from the poor phone line that Harry had sometimes it was a fascinating and thought provoking debate ( well thought provoking for me) . When i started this blog i didn't really know what i was going to do with it, and to a degree i still dont, i guess the best way i could sum it up is its my "scribble pad", its my space for what i want to write about, it maybe be a bout politics or my past or it could even just be a tune i like or a cartoon or video-clip.

As normal i listened to the debate with open mind, Harry was saying it is better to be out in the open as you are a "brand" and that in the end people will find out who you are so there is no point hiding behind an "Anon" label and Ms Fox put the counter view.

The first point i would make that it was a very respectful and friendly debate, But after the debate finished i sat there on the sofa and thought maybe i should quit now, i don't want to be a "brand", this site makes zero money and pays absolutely nothing to anyone for who helps assist with sub- editing or providing clips(they just get a nice thank you and a smile :) ) .

The main reason that i want to stay anon is that i want to tell you guys things, stuff from my past which if i didn't write under anon i don't think i would write it, i wouldn't have the confidence to write it. My journey in life has many unpleasant parts, of which i have only told you guys tiny bits.

When i said "Lets see where it takes me" i had no idea that i would face such a question so soon.

It was only , when later that day or the day after i asked someone for advice/opinion on the matter and i got a very helpful reply. So i am going to try and stay anonymous and i am going to continue to blog, for it is the most liberating thing i have ever done.

In fact i would advise any of you that don't blog to do it, it is so rewarding, the self satisfaction you get is amazing.

PS I would put up a link to the original debate but apparently you have to get it within 7 days.

Stop stealing tweets!

For those followers that use Twitter you will know that there are some games you can play, like activating some "Bots" ,One of my favorite was the "Tweet Theft" Bot, well its gone a step further now according to this site stealing tweets is now illegal , it says :

"KUWAIT-Although Twitter users have always shared their thoughts and opinions through the social network “Twitter”, but this has not stopped Kuwait from enforcing restrictions bringing violators to an end. According to Al-Qabas Newspaper, the Intellectual Property Law No. (5) issued in Kuwait for the year 1999 will be applied on Twitter users stealing tweets without gaining permission from the rightful owner."

While this seems petty and amusing, But it has wider threat, once the state curtails our freedom of speech then we live in a state without freedom to challenge, mock, offend.

I could go on for ages about my passion for free speech and state power but i think most of you know my wider thoughts on that.

I will sum it up in one sentence :

"I may detest what you say, but i will defend to the death your right to say it"

Ed Balls

So Ed Balls went on ITV today.

This was his response over claims that he might have been involved in libor scandal : Here

So to be clear this wasn't Ed Balls fault ;)

Clip Via RicHolden

Just a look on Wiki says this :

" Balls became Economic Secretary to the Treasury, a junior ministerial position in HM Treasury, in the government reshuffle of May 2006. When Gordon Brown became Prime Minister on 27 Jun 2007, Balls was promoted to Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families."

What years did the Libor fixing take place?

Some mid week music

Enjoy :)

Why not?

Just an idea, Robert Croft today suggested that if T20 games rained of they should try and come back another day and play.

While this idea seems silly on the face of it, I think it does have merit. Seeing as each summer seems wetter than the last then why give it a go? I admit that there are problems with fans/TV/Local burger vans in this, if a game between Essex and Lancashire was called of and played a few days the later the costs for fans would be to much. But the possibility of washed out fixtures is also a concern.

The paying public want to see the best quality cricket (either by attending or watching on Sky) on offer.

I understand that in international tournaments they have a reserve day for all matches (correct me if wrong) so why cant we do it in domestic cricket?

We need less cricket but better quality cricket.

This may seem as sitting on fence, but we have to choose between quality and quantity. As you know i have no love for T20 "cricket" , but if we are going to play it then at least give teams a fair crack of the whip.

A bit of house keeping

The twitter address for the blog has changed, Not because of ownership or any change in it, but for one simple reason.

I want to use a different account for blog and one for my personal use, and i am finding that i reach my tweet limit quite quickly now.

I hope you all like the "Blog list" up on the side, i did want to put up a couple of decent left blogs but wont put up people that have block me on either account.

The blog account is @Kebabtime2 and my personal account remains .

One other thing i am thinking about is having an e-mail address so you can send me stuff, i would welcome your feedback on that :)

Any Question feel free to ask :)

This also means if you only want to read the blog and miss the rubbish jokes and RT then you only have to follow @Kebabtime2.

Can we stop talking in riddles please

You know what gets me?

I see many people sledge teenagers (on twitter), they plead for justice (or vengeance, depending on your opinion) and complain that we let them off too lightly. While I see and understand the point they make. I also have concerns.

I am not a wishy-washy leftie, and I have been in trouble with the police many times in my past but I need to make a point (that may cause some interesting responses) . The last Labour Government passed over 3000 new offences. They promised to be "Tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime". Hey, politicians passing a law doesn’t eradicated crime, in fact, by giving someone a criminal record you will reduce their chances of gaining employment.

Can we not admit that we’ve done things when we were younger that would now give people a criminal record, can we say that maybe we have gone too far?

I know that being a victim of crime is tough and I wish that no one ever went through it (I myself have been a victim of crime), but have we got too many crimes? are we writing young people off by giving them a criminal record.

The most important question is this "where are the parents?" How can a parent let a child know that it is ok to go and rob someone or steal from a shop?

I have had my problems in the past, but I know right from wrong, what the bloody hell has changed?"
